Will You Have An Alibi For April 12th and 13th?

Hopefully, you can say you were watching CDHS Drama’s production of The Alibis!

By: Laura Martens

CDHS’ Drama program consistently sells out two nights in a row for the fall musical, but everyone should be just as excited about the spring play! This year, nearly 50 students have put in long hours and late nights to put together The Alibis, a Murder Mystery/Comedy that takes the stage on April 12th and 13th, 2024.

Now you may be asking, “What even is The Alibis? I’ve never heard of that!” Well, what’s special about this play is that it’s more like multiple plays combined into one.

Junior Livy Crandle and Sophomore Jack Butler star as Detective Casey Neptune and Butler Warwick who team up to solve the murder of millionaire J. Leslie Arlington, played by a very mysterious Senior taking his first step in the spotlight. As they bring in all of their suspects for questioning, there is a common theme among them: they are all hesitant to give their alibi at the time of the murder. All of the suspects have their own ridiculous reasons for not wanting to say where they were, and you’ll have to come to the show to see why.

Preparing for big roles is always a struggle, but has a great reward. When asked about her experience, Livy Crandle said that the hardest part was “really getting to flow with everyone and just coming together.”

Once everyone is comfortable with their lines, the acting can really start to come out. When asked about her favorite suspect to interview, Crandle said, “I really like Lauren’s character because it’s funny and the accent is good.”

This show is jampacked with unique characters and comedic moments. Junior Brady Herington, the Stage Manager says that he is most excited for people to see the big reveal that occurs in the last scene.

After two months of hard work, the cast and crew are very eager to take the stage and show off their talents. Make sure to support them by coming to the show either Friday, April 12th, or Saturday, April 11th at 7 PM.
