As the school year slowly comes to an end, many of us are stuck daydreaming about what we want to do this summer. Although, with living in such a small town it can be hard to find fun summer activities to occupy our time. Saber Pubs is happy to provide 20 different places to travel surrounding DeWitt. As summer approaches always remember that when the sun's out, funs out too. Let’s make this summer one in a melon and tropic likes its hot!
DeWitt
DeWitt Aquatic Center
The DeWitt Aquatic Center will be open June 1st, 2019 and is a great place for all ages to enjoy the summer sun. Here, you can sign up for swim lessons, go to open swims, or even rent the pool for your own private pool party. Some of the features of the DeWitt Aquatic Center include; water slides, lily pads, a water basketball court, concession stand, and so much more! DeWitt Fitness Center
The DeWitt Fitness Center is a good place to escape the scorching Iowa heat, and still get a nice workout in. Here you can enjoy racquetball courts, an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, track, cardio equipment, and weight rooms. Also, you can sign up for group exercise classes such as Taekwondo, tumbling, swimming programs and more! Westbrook
Westbrook is a multi-use park for all ages. Here there are three separate playgrounds for the kiddos, a dog park, four baseball/softball fields, an eighteen hole disc golf course, a mountain bike trail, as well as a multi-purpose trail, which is good for walking running, or even dog walking. There are also five different picnic shelters, so families and friends alike can come together for an enjoyable summer picnic. Lincoln Park
Lincoln Park is located in the center of DeWitt and is home to our beloved water tower. Here there are two different play sets, one of which is handicap accessible, as well as swing sets that include a handicap accessible swing. Other features of the park are picnic tables, a gazebo, and public restrooms. Starting this year, there is free yoga with our very own retiree Julie Murphy. Also during June, July and August on Tuesday evenings, summer concerts are held in the Lincoln Park Band Shelter. These concerts are free to the community and are called Tunes in Town. Not only does Tunes in Town provide amazing music, but also different food vendors every week. Malone Park
Malone Park is located at 2524 330th Avenue, on the south side of Highway 30. Here, there is a 9-acre lake for swimming and fishing, picnic tables and shelters, a swing set, and a small sandy beach-like area. Even if swimming in a fishy lake isn’t your thing, you can still catch some rays on the water, whether you’re in a canoe, kayak, or floating on a raft. Malone Park has activities for people of all ages and is a great place to make memories over the summer.

Killdeer County Park
Killdeer County Park is located at 2471 330th Avenue, on the north side of Highway 30. Here, you can fish, kayak, and canoe in a 9-acre lake. Also available is a handicap accessible parking lot and fishing dock. Killdeer County Park is not only a great place to relax and fish, but also provides a space to spend time with the family by picnicking together.

City of DeWitt Skate Park
The City of DeWitt Skate Park is an outdoor skate park that includes three different ramps and is located next to the DeWitt Fitness Center. Here, not only can you use skateboards on the ramps, but bikes and scooters as well. The hours of the skate park are 8 a.m to dusk, so all day you can ride until your heart's content.
Other Parks

Cups and Cones & Smiley’s Ice Cream
For a sweet treat to cool you down during the summer heat, go and enjoy some ice cream at either Cups and Cones or Smiley’s Ice Cream & More. If you’re looking for a good hometown soft serve ice cream shop, go on down to Cups and Cones located 01 11th St, DeWitt Iowa. Here, they feature a different flavor of ice cream each week and it includes a grill for food in the back. Though, if hard scoop ice cream is more your style, you can go to Smiley’s Ice Cream & More. Grand Mound
Grand Mound Ball Park
The Grand Mound Ball Park is a nice and quiet place for family and friends to enjoy each others company. Here there is a play set that includes monkey bars and a swing set, a sand volleyball court, a tennis/basketball court, and tetherball areas. Also, during the Fourth of July, you can come to the Grand Mound Ball Park to watch the fireworks.
Bonus - During the Fourth of July, you can participate in the Grand Mound Water parade. This is where floats and bystanders alike have a water fight until everyone is soaking wet and smiling from ear to ear from all the summer fun.

Delmar
61 Drive-in Theatre
The 61 Drive in Theatre is the Midwest's first drive-in theatre to feature state-of-the-art digital projection and FM stereo sound. It is located south of Maquoketa on Highway 61 just off of exit 153. Prices for tickets vary depending on age. Children aged five to twelve are $5 a ticket, adults aged thirteen and older are $10 a ticket, and little ones aged four and under are free! Though space is limited for cars so in case of a sellout, make sure to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a portable radio so you can still walk in and enjoy the movie. Maquoketa
Lakehurst Riverside Campground
The Lakehurst Riverside Campground is located by the Lakehurst Dam along the Maquoketa River. Here there are six different camper sites with electricity included and primitive sites for tents as well, making this a great place for family and friends to camp. Not only does Lakehurst Riverside Campground provide a place to camp, but you can also go fishing, hiking, kayaking, tubing, and canoeing here also. Fees for this campsite are $25 per day and include electricity, water, and fire rings for bonfires and smores. For more information about Lakehurst Riverside Campground, check out the link below.

Maquoketa Caves State Park
The Maquoketa Caves State Park has many adventurous opportunities for summer activities. Here you can explore the caves with a guided tour, walk the six miles of trails, go on a picnic, and even camp. Construction has been done to them to make the journey to the caves not only safer but easier as well. Some of the new construction sites include "Natural Bridge" which stands nearly 50 feet above Raccoon Creek, and the 17-ton "Balanced Rock". Also, in between the campground and the picnic area, there is a playset for the kids. Clinton
Eagle Point Park
Eagle Point Park is a 205-acre park located in Clinton, Iowa. Here there is basketball, cross-country skiing, playground equipment, picnic tables & grills, restrooms, and shelters. There is also a stone tower from 1937 that you can go up into to get a view of the Mississippi river and of the park itself. Soaring Eagle Nature Center
The Soaring Eagle Nature Center has been apart of Clinton Iowa for over 30 years. Here, you can walk the three-mile nature trail that winds through wetland, woodland, and long prairie grass areas from dusk until dawn, as well as visit the Mr. Ed Kennedy Memorial Butterfly Garden. Also, you can visit the Nature Barn that has different educational displays in it and the Flannery One Room Schoolhouse, which is the last known one room schoolhouse in Clinton Iowa. Another activity provided at the Soaring Eagle Nature Center is the Prairie Pasture Dog Park, which is 8 acres off the leash adventures in an old zoo location, that provides unusual structures and varied terrain for dogs of all sizes to use. Davenport
Credit Island
Credit Island is a historic island located in Davenport. Here you can bike or hike parts of the Great River Trail in Illinois, where you can travel past a 3D wooden sculpture display entitled "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte." Also provided here are playground sites and picnic areas where visitors can sit and watch the traffic on the Mississippi River. Freight House Farmers Market
The Freight House Farmers Market is located close to the Modern Woodmen Park and the LeClaire Park Bandshell at 421 W River Dr, Davenport, Iowa. Here there is an indoor farmers market as well as an outdoor farmers market, which all together has over 200 different vendors. Their indoor market is open year round on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and their outdoor market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also, throughout the market there are different selfie stations for some good photo fun and dogs are allowed here as long as they behave. Modern Woodmen Park
The Modern Woodmen Park is a baseball stadium that is home to the class A minor league baseball team, the Quad Cities River Bandits. The park is located at 209 South Gaines Street, Davenport, IA, which allows the stadium to have a stunning view of the Mississippi River and her bridges. Along with a baseball stadium, there are also various amusement rides as well, including a Ferris wheel and a carousel. Also throughout the stadium, there are various food vendor spots making sure your all american baseball experience is complete with some good ole’ fashion peanuts and cracker jacks. Illinois
Niabi Zoo
The Niabi Zoo is on the smaller side of the zoo spectrum, but still packs a punch in terms for fun things to do this summer. You can locate the zoo at 13010 Niabi Zoo Road Coal Valley, Illinois. Along with multiple different animal exhibits the zoo also has a train that runs through it, which you can also ride. Also all throughout the zoo there various food vendors. Overall the Niabi Zoo is a great place to spend a relaxing day outside with family and friends while experiencing exotic animals. Raging Rivers Waterpark
The Raging Rivers Waterpark is located at 100 Palisades Pkwy Grafton, Illinois and is a great place to take a splash into some cool water during humid summer days. Between several waterslides, a lazy river, and a large pool swimming area there is plenty of fun to go around. Also throughout the waterpark are a couple of different food service vendors and there is even a gift shop. Millennium Park
Millennium Park is 25 acres of awe-inspiring landscape, breathtaking architecture and an iconic collection of public art located in Chicago Illinois. Also provided here are a Ferris wheel, outdoor music pavilion and ice skating rink. This is a great place for some outdoor fun, as well as an amazing opportunity for fresh summer photoshoot.
